Season Eight of Psych consists of 10 episodes and originally aired in the United States on USA Network from January 8, 2014 to March 26, 2014. The season DVD was released on April 1, 2014.
Production[]
The show was originally renewed by USA Network on December 19, 2012, with an order for only eight episodes. On June 25, 2013, it was stated that two more episodes were added to the season order, due to popular demand. Fans were given the chance to vote for an episode scenario on the USA Network website out of five possible scripts. The winning scenario was revealed at Psych's Comic Con panel on July 19, 2013, to be "Dream Therapy," now known as "A Nightmare on State Street", although one of the other choices, "Food Truck", was produced as well, under the new title "Shawn and Gus Truck Things Up". Directors also re-made the Season One episode "Cloudy... With a Chance of Murder" (an unprecedented occurrence within the same show), simply because they did not feel that it was good enough the first time. Filming finished on August 24, 2013. On February 5, 2014, it was confirmed via Twitter that Season Eight was indeed the final season, although work would soon begin on Psych: The Movie and its sequels.
