"Seven episodes. Six hours. Zero sleep."
— The Psych Slumber Party mantra.
Slumber Party Invitation

The Psych Slumber Party was an official event that took place on USA Network on Friday February 15, 2013 from 12AM to 6AM ET (so technically the first 6 hours of Saturday February 16). It was part of a series of events to celebrate Season Seven (which would start airing on February 27), specifically the 100-episode milestone that would be reached by S7E5 "100 Clues" on March 27. The party consisted of a back-to-back broadcast of the following seven episodes, all of which were voted into the line-up by fans of the show:

  1. S6E2 "Last Night Gus"
  2. S2E1 "American Duos"
  3. S2E13 "Lights, Camera... Homicidio"
  4. S3E15 "Tuesday the 17th"
  5. S6E11 "Heeeeere's Lassie"
  6. S3E11 "Lassie Did a Bad, Bad Thing"
  7. S2E16 "Shawn (and Gus) of the Dead"

The Slumber Party was advertised with a tune-in video, and fans could enter their phone number on the USA Network website to possibly receive a "prank call" (really a recording) from James Roday Rodriguez and Dulé Hill in the week leading up to the event. It was preceded by a kick-off video, and each episode was followed by a little skit and gag. During the event, fans could send tweets and touts (using #PsychSlumberParty) that would appear on-screen and interact with other fans using USA Network's Character Chatter platform. Cast members would often engage with the fans, and many prizes were given away. To top it all off, sometimes a secret codeword would pop up that could be entered on the USA Network website for a chance to win a trip to the Psych set.

Trivia[]

  • The social aspect of the event was such a success that the Psych Slumber Party was nominated for the 6th Annual Shorty Awards in the category Best Use of Social Media for Television, where it reached the final.
  • Timothy Omundson later chose "Last Night Gus" as his favorite episode for the Psych All-Night event.
  • Pineapples: the poster for the Psych Slumber Party features Shawn lying down with a pineapple slice on each of his closed eyes, a joke that was elaborated on during the gag called "Tired Eyes". It features Juliet lying down with cucumber slices on her eyes, while Shawn and Gus on either side of her are in pain from the pineapple slices on their eyes. In addition, the intro screen for each skit features a pineapple nightlight.
