Paul Haversham is the vice president of the Central Coast Pharmaceuticals branch in Santa Barbara and therefore Gus's boss. When regional sales manager Frankjim Ogletree threatens to fire Gus for working two jobs, Shawn starts haunting The Havershams' House to convince him that Gus's detective work should be considered an asset rather than a distraction. Haversham doesn't believe in the paranormal himself, but Shawn knows his wife does and to please her Haversham hires the duo to investigate the haunting.

When Shawn feels he has kept up the shtick long enough, he tells Haversham that the ghost is gone and that it will most definitely not come back. Haversham, though, tells him he knows everything was a sham thanks to the sixth sense he developed due to working in business for so long. He shows the duo out of his office and Gus thinks it's all over when he sees Ogletree waiting for him. However, Shawn stays behind to speak to Haversham privately about some other things he has seen at his home. He tells him that he knows about his affair with his secretary Bianca, and also that he knows that the overhaul of the company's inventory system which Corporate hold him in such high regard for is just a front for his fraudulous repackaging and reselling of produce. Knowing that Shawn is a mere two phone calls away from ruining both his marriage and his career, Haversham realizes that he has no choice but to keep Gus on and treat him well.

Trivia[]

  • Gus has a lot of respect for Haversham as a result of his lineage. He says that Haversham grew up under the tutelage of his father William, whom he calls a genius entrepreneur, a business master and a real estate magnate. However, Haversham later admits to Shawn that his father wasn't around much and that he was mostly raised by his grandmother.
  • He likes to drink the Dutch cocoa his maid Hadewych makes for him every night.
  • Gus tells Shawn that Haversham thinks that Gus's nickname is 'Fearless Guster'.
  • The landline number for his house is 555-0189.
  • He claims that the main reason he knows the haunting was a sham is because he heard a voice say "Gus" right before Shawn ended his spooky phone call. In the scene concerned, however, Shawn says nothing before hanging up.
