Mr. Richmond is Gus's boss at Pacific Nutraceutical Products. As he talks to Gus in the break room, he tells him that he needs to get over to Bosseigh High before dark. Gus misinterprets this and assumes Mr. Richmond is like him and just enjoys walking around the premises to relive old times and get perspective. Mr. Richmond thinks that's a rather strange habit to have and explains he's actually going over there for his son. Gus is amazed Mr. Richmond has a son in high school given that they're the same age, but Mr. Richmond is in turn surprised to learn Gus doesn't have kids himself. Gus tells him he first wants to get things lined up before having kids and is looking at a house downtown, but later he admits to Shawn that none of what he said was true and he was just playing the part.

Mr. Richmond later reminds Gus of a presentation he's supposed to hold and introduces Gus at the meeting as "a man that I personally saved from a lifetime of underachievement." As he says this, Gus realizes that PNP is not the place for him and leaves the room to join Shawn, Juliet and Karen in San Francisco. When he has second thoughts and goes back, Mr. Richmond is leading the meeting and Gus starts apologizing to the room before walking back out. This time Mr. Richmond follows him and demands the keys to the company car back if Gus is truly quitting, and to his disbelief Gus actually holds firm and throws him the keys.

Trivia[]

  • He is unique in the Psychverse for calling Gus neither "Gus" nor "Burton" but rather "Burt".
  • As he says goodbye to Gus in the break room, he affectionately says "Take it easy, bud." This is a reference to the common misconception among Psych characters that Gus played Bud on The Cosby Show, a joke doubly meaningful in this instance as it is Mr. Richmond's actor Deon Richmond who actually portrayed the part of Bud.
