Miklos Prochazka had his son Jiri hold a fake inhaler which pulsed into Jiri's hand to tell him the letters to spell. The plan came crashing down starting with contestant Brendan Vu grabbing the fake inhaler instead of his own necessary inhaler for his asthma and collapsing onstage. Former champion and host Elvis Cavanaugh saw the fake doctor's name on the inhaler and realized first the switch, then the whole truth. He was planning to expose the father and son, but Miklos poisoned Cavanaugh's Chinese takeout so he'd have a heart attack, leading to him falling off the overlooking Spellmaster's balcony onto the seats below. Shawn and Gus both caught onto this when Gus smelled the poison once they reached the box. When Spencer was biking home, Miklos tried to run him off the road to kill or at least scare him into not investigating further. Figuring out the same thing from the fake name on Jiri's "inhaler", by the time the Prochazkas win, Spencer steps onstage and reveals the whole plot, leading the family's arrests and incarcerations.
