Gillian Tucker is a relatively recent widow who is best friends with Eugenia. Her former husband, Walter Vanderholt, allegedly committed suicide. Lassiter had closed the case on Walter's death just five months previous to the events of this episode when Gillian is present at the death of Lance Tolkin, her date to a party. Lassiter now thinks she murdered her husband and got away with it before murdering Lance as well ("Now she's dating our victim, and suddenly he's dead, too?").
When Lassiter gets confrontational with her during questioning, she remains collected and cool, saying "I'm not going to lie, I was not in a happy marriage, but I have my own way of mourning... What is a woman my age supposed to do, Detective? Knit?" She says she is on her way to a meeting, but Juliet suspects she's going on a date because otherwise she wouldn't have been doing her hair and make-up during the interrogation. They tail her and see her enter a restaurant with Clive Prescott.
The bartender who was serving drinks the night Lance died tells the detectives that Gillian ordered a bottle of Brora scotch for Tolkin to be kept behind the bar so he could have his preferred drink, a Gabardine Hightail. Lassiter finds this suspicious as it was poison in Tolkin's drink that killed him.
Shawn, however, suspects Clive and follows Gillian and Clive to the bank. Shawn wants to keep Clive away from Gillian and simultaneously prove to him that "this whole gentleman thing is a sham," so he asks her out in his own unique way. To Clive's infinite frustration, Gillian thinks Shawn is adorable and actually agrees to go on the date. At the restaurant, she gifts Shawn "a little get-to-know-you something", a pair of cuff links. Clive then joins the table and Shawn learns from Gabe McKinley that Clive told all of his students that Gillian was off-limits ("Everyone was fair game except for her"). He also learns of Clive's plans to take Gillian on a trip to Peru, purportedly because she has started investing in art and he discovered a wonderful painter she would be interested in.
Shawn wants to protect Gillian from Clive and ends the date at the Psych office, but she thinks Shawn is jealous when he tries to dissuade her from going to Peru with Clive and assures him that Clive is just a friend. Shawn collapses right after the date and Gillian is arrested for poisoning him, but she is released shortly afterwards because they don't have sufficient evidence against her.
When Gabe is also found dead, the gang know that he had been on a date with Gillian from the cuff links in his pocket. Shawn now realizes that Eugenia is the murderer and they arrest her. Eugenia says that Gillian always chose the wrong man and that she was just protecting her, but Shawn already knows that Eugenia is in love with Gillian and just wanted to spend her golden years together with her. In arresting Eugenia, they also save Clive from becoming another of her victims. He is "hopelessly, ridiculously in love" with Gillian and met with Eugenia for advice on how to approach her. Clive's next speech implies that his proposal was successful and that he and Gillian will be away for two weeks on their honeymoon.
