George Cheslow is a Santa Barbara dentist and weekend war re-enactor. He comes into Shawn and Gus's sights when he seems to be the only reenactor with a clear shot at the victim, Nelson Poe, and things look bleaker when Poe's fling with his wife comes to light. The police pounce, but the duo have discovered George is severely near-sighted, and as his glasses are not 'period' enough for the martinet Lassiter, he's not permitted to wear them during the reenactment. The boys set out to prove that George didn't in fact do it, and are able, finally to show means, motive and opportunity for Griffin Mahoney, who had planned to kill Sally Reynolds, with whom he was running an insurance scam. George is thus exonerated.
