Emily Bloom is the vice president of the Ciao! fashion company whose job mostly consists of catering to the whims of president Ciaobella Masterson, who treats her very disrespectfully. To make matters worse, chairman of the company and Ciaobella's husband Gregor Uwe-Steeb is stealing her designs and passing them off as his own. However, Emily is humble and conscientious and has no strong desire for fame or recognition, so she doesn't much mind the way they treat her.
When Ciaobella and Gregor are murdered and Emily is suddenly put in charge, she rises to the occasion by being an amazing boss to her employees and turning Ciao! into an amazing company, for example by going green, ending animal testing, and subsidizing proceeds for a breast cancer cure. It's therefore no surprise that her employees absolutely adore her. This sudden rise to power does rouse the suspicions of the SBPD, however, since she is obviously the one who gained most from the deaths of her superiors. These suspicions only increase when Ciaobella's autopsy results come back and it is discovered that one of the green super food smoothies Emily used to prepare for her had been poisoned with arsenic. They now know whom to arrest and are about to do so when they find her slumped in her chair unconscious. She suddenly comes to and they rush her to a hospital, where the contents of a green super food smoothie need to be pumped from her stomach. Shawn puts all the pieces together and discovers that Gregor wanted to get rid of his wife and was not afraid of some collateral damage when poisoning the powder. Emily is lucky to be alive.
