Dot is a member of the Box Canyon Commune, led by Eli. She and Cynthia Cooper were the first women to join the commune 15 years ago. When Shawn and Gus visit the commune in order to investigate the murder of Dan Cooper, Dot is immediately attracted to the former and admits later in the Barn of Truth that she has had "a series of deliciously impure dreams" about him.
When Eli is outed as a thief and a killer and tries to escape, Dot pursues and fells him, making the job of the SBPD that much easier. With Eli gone and everyone's money returned, Dot is planning on buying the commune's property together with Geoffrey to ensure their little piece of paradise can continue to prosper.
