(William?) "Bill" Hiltonbock lives in a Santa Barbara apartment together with his brother Wes, who describes him as smart, talented, and a great singer. Unfortunately, Bill is struggling with depression and one day kills himself by jumping off the apartment's balcony. Wes is devastated and discovers that Bill had made 16 calls to an 1800 stress line just before his suicide. This discovery fills him with anger and causes him to become the serial killer of the "9 Lives" episode, vowing to kill other 'weaklings' who call the stress line.
